Shota Tezuka (JPN) Leads Men’s Wakeboard into the Finals!

Day two started with harsh weather condition with Cyclone Olwyn just missing Mandurah. The competitors and IWWF officials met at 9am to discuss the plan for the day. It was decided Men’s Wakeboard would be up first, followed by Women’s, pending any dramatic weather changes.

20 competitors in 4 heats made up the Men’s Wakeboarding qualifying. The top 2 in each heat will make it through to the finals, scheduled for tomorrow.

These are the results, with Japan’s Shota Tezuka with the top score of the day of 86.6, followed by Australia’s Harley Clifford with 84.67. Also in the finals are Massi Piffaretti (ITA), Australian brothers Cory and Brad Teunissen, David O’Caoimh (IRL), Tony Iaconni (AUS) and Noah Flegel (USA).

Women’s wakeboard qualifying had 12 competitors in two heats. Australian Bec Gange and American Raimi Merritt bringing in the highest scores of 60.44 and 63.22 respectively.

Women’s LCQ (Last Chance Qualifying) will commence at 8:30am Sunday morning, pending weather conditions.
