Eyres ASG Mandurah to Attract the World’s Best Athletes

The Action Sports Games was officially launched in Mandurah today by Tourism Minister Kim Hames and Mayor of Mandurah Paddi Creevey. The event will run in line with the Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest from March 16-18.

The   Action Sports Games will make history by incorporating the first ever Australian International Waterski and Wakeboarding Federation (IWWF) World Cup Stop. The World’s best waterskiiers and wakeboarders from 24 countries will travel to Western Australia to take on Mandurah’s aquatic playground.

Confirmed to compete in the IWWF Mandurah World Cup Stop is World Number one Australian wakeboarder Harley Clifford, 2011 World Waterski Jump Champion and World Record holder Freddy Krueger and Western Australia’s own Ryan Green who placed 3rd in the 2011 IWWF World Waterski Championships in Russia.

The event is a huge tourism drawcard for the region, with the City of Mandurah expected to host up to 128 national and international competitors, 18 judges and officials and an estimated 2,000 dedicated supporters.

The State Government has provided funding to the   Action Sport Games over the next four years through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Program, which is funded by Royalties for Regions.

The   Action Sports Games line-up will also include a national BMX and Skateboarding competition and an international Freestyle Motocross (FMX) Shootout. World Number Three Red Bull rider Josh Sheehan will be among the FMX stars wowing the crowd with impressive stunts.

The total cash prize pool for the Action Sports Games will exceed US$300,000.
